Antique Garden measures 64" x 66." Its setting was designed by Primitive Quilts and Projects Creative Director Jeni Gaston. Fabrics were supplied by Moda Fabrics from its Collection for a Cause, Mill Book Series, Circa 1892, and nine Moda Fabric designers contributed their favorite antique appliqué block. The summer issue of Primitive Quilts and Projects features the quilt, with complete instructions for making it with Moda Fabrics.
Antique Garden is truly a group effort in the spirit of quiltmaking! These Moda Fabric designers contributed their favorite antique applique blocks: Lisa Bongean, Barb Adams and Alma Allen of Blackbird Designs, Sandy Gervais, Lynne Hagmeier, Laurie Simpson, Jan Patek, Polly Minick, Kathy Schmitz, Edyla Sitar, and Pat Sloan.
Jeni Gaston designed the layout and she and her sisters, Judy Williamson and Gretchen Smith, made the Pinwheel, Six-Patch, and Nine-Patch blocks and stitched everything together. Their cousin, Jill Churchill of Ta Da Quilting Studio quilted it, and a friend of theirs, Sandy Lamb, sewed the binding on.
The Texas Quilt Museum is honored to be the recipient of Moda Fabrics Collection for a Cause Mill Book Series, Circa 1892. Moda is donating proceeds from the sale of this authentic heritage fabric to our Museum, and we are very grateful for recognition and support from this major fabric producer.
We're also truly thrilled that Primitive Quilts and Projects magazine conceived of this exciting fundraising idea to support the Museum, coordinated the project, and is featuring it both in their summer issue and on their website.
